for its 7th Annual Conference, known as Western Canada’s premier technology event for research & higher education, on April 17 & 18, 2007, at SFU Harbour Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia.

This year’s theme, Making Connections: Sharing Knowledge for Greater Innovation, highlights the goals of the event: to introduce new ideas, learn and share experiences to enhance research, teaching & learning through technology. Our aim is to stimulate critical thinking about new and better ways to apply super high-performance networks and applications technologies as well as enhance productivity and innovation within the higher education and research community.

Featured Presentation: Transforming Education in Science and Beyond

Keynote: Carl Wieman

Professor Carl E. Wieman was awarded the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physics and named United States Professor of the Year in 2004. Officially joining UBC’s Department of Physics and Astronomy in January 2007, Wieman will immediately begin developing a science education project at UBC that emphasizes student experience, stimulates inquiry and encourages measurement of educational outcomes.

Keynote: David A. Wiley

David Wiley is best known for having coined the term "open content" and creating the first open source-style license for non-software. His work on open content, open education, and informal online learning communities has been reported in many international outlets, including The New York Times, The London Financial Times, The Hindu, The Globe and Mail, The Economist, MIT Technology Review, and WIRED.
