We are making significant progress in connecting the entire public, post-secondary sector to the BCNET Advanced Network. One of our primary goals is to offer secure and equitable access to the high-speed network to ensure every campus in British Columiba can deliver leading-edge technology services.
In 2015/16, we made progress in advancing digital infrastructure in support of research, education and innovation. We successfully transitioned four institutions to the high-availability, BCNET Network: Capilano University, the University of the Fraser Valley, Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Vancouver Community College.
With the addition of these four new participants, 64 per cent of institutions use the BCNET Advanced Network, bringing us closer to our goal of 100 per cent service connectivity for the sector. By linking every institution, we will enable equal and unfettered access to innovative, shared technology solutions.
Expanding the network is made possible thanks to our key partners, the Ministry of Advanced Education, CANARIE, the BCNET Integrated Network Advisory Committee and the newly connected member institutions.
