BCNET has centralized the licensing of SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) to offer greater flexibility and reduce costs for the higher education sector in B.C. SPSS is a data mining and text analytics software application from IBM used to build predictive models and conduct other analytic tasks. Attendees will hear how the BCNET service was created and structured, and how they can join, or expand their campuses use of SPSS. They will also be introduced to data-mining and the broader SPSS ecosystem and see how to use IBM SPSS Modeler as a predictive analytics platform that is designed to bring predictive intelligence to decisions made by individuals, groups, systems and the enterprise. A range of advanced algorithms and techniques, including text analytics, decision management and optimization will be shown, to help select the actions that result in better outcomes.
