Compute Canada, in partnership with regional organizations WestGrid, Calcul Québec, Compute Ontario and ACENET, provides essential Advanced Research Computing (ARC) services and infrastructure for Canadian researchers and their collaborators in all academic and industrial sectors.

Compute Canada is currently leading one of the biggest ARC renewals in Canada’s history. Funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and other regional partners, will replace over 20 ageing legacy systems with four new systems that will consolidate resources and centralize services.

The first new system to come online was the major cloud expansion at the University of Victoria in the fall of 2016. Two new general purpose clusters will be available late spring 2017, including one at Simon Fraser University which will be one of Canada’s most powerful research computing systems.

This presentation will review Compute Canada’s National Platform Renewal plan, describe the exciting new capabilities available to users, and review the major upgrades in capacity and features of the wide-area connectivity among the new sites.
