Is your institution a Banner institution with Banner XE on the roadmap? Does your institution create bespoke web applications without a web framework? Would you love to mix tried and true Java with the expressiveness of Python or Ruby? Have you attended a Grails training course and are interested in seeing some concrete, real-world examples? Have you heard of Groovy and/or Grails in passing but are curious and want to learn more?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this session is for you. Join us on a tour through the core elements and concepts of the Grails framework. We will use practical, real-life examples taken from a series of real applications. These real applications include a service-oriented architecture for processing web payments and the BCNET school systems tracker. At the end of this tour, you will see how it is possible to use Grails to do more with less. To benefit from this session, you need not be a developer. However, familiarity with object oriented programming, databases, and web development would be very beneficial.
