Learning Technology

Teaching and learning are evolving rapidly. Students expect flexible, engaging, and accessible learning experiences, while institutions are balancing changing learner needs, emerging technologies, and increasing demands on faculty and support teams.

Across BC's post-secondary sector, institutions are advancing the goals of the BC Ministry of Post-Secondary and Future Skills' Digital Learning Strategy, strengthening digital literacies, exploring the opportunities and challenges of AI, and reimagining how technology can support student success. At the same time, educators, learning technologists, librarians, and administrators are navigating important questions about accessibility, privacy, equity, academic integrity, and sustainable innovation.

This track invites educators, learning technologists, librarians, instructional designers, and institutional leaders to share promising practices, lessons learned, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Join us as we explore how technology, pedagogy, and human-centred design can work together to create inclusive, effective, and future-ready learning experiences.

Target Audience

This track is designed for practitioners and leaders at all levels who support teaching and learning through technology, pedagogy, and innovation, including those working in instructional technology, learning systems, digital and extended learning, academic technology services, and organizational learning initiatives.

• Learning Technology Strategy & Innovation: Adopting, evaluating, implementing, and scaling learning technologies to support institutional priorities, including responses to the Digital Learning Strategy.
• Digital Learning Models & Learner Experience: Hybrid, HyFlex, online, and emerging learning models; learner support; pedagogies of care; and enhancing the digital learning experience.
• Digital Literacies & Faculty Development: Building digital capabilities for faculty, staff, and students, including professional development, engagement strategies, and the Digital Literacies Framework.
• Artificial Intelligence in Teaching & Learning: Integrating generative AI and AI-powered tools, developing AI-enabled learning experiences, and exploring the opportunities and challenges of AI in education.
• Ethics, Privacy & Trust in Digital Learning: Academic integrity, responsible AI, privacy, data sovereignty, surveillance technologies, and ethical technology use in education.
• Accessibility, Inclusion & Reconciliation: Universal Design for Learning (UDL), accessible technologies, inclusive practices, and supporting Indigenous learners, communities, and reconciliation efforts.
• Learning Analytics & Evidence-Informed Practice: Learning analytics, assessment of digital learning initiatives, and using data to improve student outcomes and experiences.
• Library Technologies & Digital Access: Technologies and services that enhance access to information, digital resources, and library-supported learning.
• Student Partnership & Co-Creation: Student-led innovation, co-design, and collaborative approaches to shaping teaching, learning, and digital experiences.
• Sustainable and Scalable Digital Learning: Expanding services and innovations with limited resources while maintaining quality, accessibility, and long-term sustainability.
